I've gone from Mark Todd winter boots, to short boots and chaps. I now can't keep my feet in my stirrups, I've even shortened my stirrups, I either lose my stirrups or my foot goes too far through, and my toes are turning outwards. (I didn't have this in other boots :S)
I did some no stirrups last time I rode, and felt my legs lengthen and thought it was helping, took my stirrups back, and still couldn't sort my leg out.
Help

i have no advice but i can ride better with long boots, feels weird with nothing on my leg otherwise.. bloody nightmare when i have to wear my ankle ones for showing!

Hm. Think that was part of my issue on Sunday! So used to riding in chunky Muckboots that my feet felt very loose in the stirrups and had a couple fo flops about

You will get used to them in time and wonder how you ever rode in your other boots.

Last year i bought some cheepo long rubber riding boots so i could take them to ireland and not have to take both joddy boots and chaps as well as wellies for the field.

I couldn not ride for toffee, felt like i couldn't feel the horses side and couldn't bend ankle and my lower leg was always really far forwards. I hated them that much i actually left them there, but i always rode in them fine for about 10 years, but the last 5 years i've been in chaps, so i'm sure i could get used to them again.

i was gonna post about this to! when i started riding again a few years ago i bought jodh boots and half chaps and loved them. i then bought some mark todd winter boots when i got my own horse and now, i cannot for the life of me ride in jodh boots! the last time i did, i nearly feel off mid gallop when my horse spooked coz i lost my stirrups. and i had bruising all down my legs from the stirrup straps! thats how bad i am! never again, it'll always be long boots for me, even in summer. also, my friend was hacking out in jodh boots. her horse rushed through a gate after she'd opened it and the rider ripped her leg open on the gate catch. my jodh boots are for dog walking and yard duties now!
