Diesel costs

Could you please give me an idea of how much the diesel costs for a 10 mile round trip in a lorry carrying two 550-600 kg horses?

I always find it difficult to know how much I should contribute to friends and if I have a 10 mile baseline, it might help me work out how much to give each time. The journeys are usually a combination of a bit of flat dual carriageway/A roads but mostly twisty B roads.

a 7.5 ton will do about 20 mpg .. but on a short run a bit less
so I would say £5+
