My daughter's pony was bought as a confidence giver for a very nervous child. He is just that but as her confidence grows she is starting to find him a bit too slow and a bit too laid back. He has a very nice nature and I'm wondering whether subtle changes to his diet might just give him a little more oomph. Any suggestions? PC Camp is coming up and I know that 4 hours of a slow coach, kick-a-long is really going to tire her out. I don't want to fizz him up, just make him slightly more forward going for her.

could add things like oil or sugar beet that is not the sugar free stuff. perhaps a handful of something like tiger oats before going out though some people don't like doing that.

Diet cannot alter a pony's personality.

Presumably the pony is not over weight? Loosing weight really pepped my horse up.

I found that response instant energy cubes made a difference to my horse, but be careful they do not make him fat.

Extra energy feeds contain extra calories.

I have the same problem with my heavy weight. I use Bailys low cal and cant fault it. Woudnt say it gives more energy but did generally improve the well being of my horse. I have considered all sorts of feed but found that restricted diet so they dont get over weight, and varied work is the best method.
