Difference between fly rugs and sweetitch rugs?

Is there one?
If so, what is the difference?
My new boy has mild sweetitch and comes with a sweetitch rug, but the horse he was out with bit a hole in its neck and i am not sure if it is repairable or not yet.
He takes 7'6 rugs so I am VERY restricted on what I can get - I was looking at this...

Will this do the job and keep the midges at bay if his current rug is not repairable or will I need to get a rug specifically designed for sweetitch?
 
My pony has quite severe sweet itch in the summer and although the sweet itch rugs are better, the normal fly rugs work really well with him too. I have just bought him a fly rug and it is doing the job so I think that one will work fine for you new boy, who must be Massive by the way!!!

Only main differences in the two rugs, I believe, are the size of the 'holes' in the material that the rug is made of (some fly rugs have largish holes that little flys, midges and other biting critters could still get through) where sweetitch rug material is made of really fine mesh to keep out practically everything. Sweetitch rugs also tend to cover a larger area (more of the belly and closer around the bum etc) than a conventional fly rug.
 
Having had many horses with sweetitch over the years i would say that a sweet itch rud is much better as they cover a larger area of the horse. But as you say your horse only has it mildly a fine mesh fly rug should do the trick....in fact ive just looked again and i think thats the rug he came with...not 100% though.

Hes coming to me on LWVTB around the 10th of May so I will get some pics up within a couple of days of him arriving.
I know I am biased but I think he is gorgeous.
After over 6 months of searching I found 'the one'

I think I will get him that rug, It is only £40 on equestrian clearance and I will try and get his present one repaired too so the fly rug can be a cheap spare for emergencies/repairs etc.
