could someone tell me the difference between how a GP differs from a working hunter saddle? ive seen a WH for sale and someone said as my cob has a big shouder it may be more suitable than a GP?
A GP is designed to accommodate for dressage as well as jumping and is often quite forward cut to allow short stirrups for jumping. There are GPs of a cut called VSD (From the German Vielseitigkeit/ Dressur = multi-discipline / Dressage) which are straighter cut and geared towards dressage.
The working hunter saddles, too, are straighter cut and allow more shoulder movement, so your friend was right.
Jumping saddles are very forward cut but have a different tree design to allow the horse to lift more when jumping.
Hope this helps
