Can someone please talk me through the differences in the below 2 products please?
The key ingredients seems exactly the same, the horses get fresh carrots anyway.
At 1/3 of price I have tried the GPS for last few weeks and can see no difference in any of my horses. Thanks

General Purpose Supplement

Wheat Feed, Maize, Calcium Carbonate, Brewers Yeast, Dicalcium Phosphate, Whey Protein Powder, Sodium Chloride, Whey Powder, Magnesium Oxide

Pink Powder

Wheat Feed, Brewers Yeast, Maize, Calcium Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Rapeseed Oil, Whey Protein Powder, Carrot, Whey Powder, Wheat Protein, Martodexin, Beetroot Juice, Magnesium Oxide

You need to look at the percentages of the vits and mins those ingredients make up and how they relate to recommended daily allowance .

It should be on the pack if not they may have it on line .

These are both NAF products.
You aren't compairing the vits/mins they differ quite a bit with the amounts of vits/mins plus pink powder has pre/pro biotin's added as well.

Tbh I wouldn't feed either, they both contain to many cheap fillers that I won't feed plus to much iron in both for my grazing.

Equimins advance complete is by far a superior product and linseed based so your not paying for by products.

U say you have seen no difference since feeding the GP? What are u after op, weight? Coat condition etc

how much is there in them of the things that matter eg zinc, copper, vit E selenium, magnesium, lysine etc etc

cheap supplements are cheap for a reason ie very low level of required vits and minerals.

go onto the forage plus site and look at their winter balancer or equimins and look at advanced complete. Those are the sorts of levels you are looking at in a decent supplement ie one which is worth spending money on.

calcium carbonate is limestone flour, cheap as chips,. sodium chloride is salt, even cheaper.

I am feeding 7 horses at the moment, they all get adlib hay, salt lick etc.
They currently get fed Alfa A oil, Sugarbeet and Vit/Min Supplement (previously Pink powder) Until I started on pink powder, they all would drop weight rapidly come winter, pink Powder has kept everyone's weight constant plus there coats are all shiny, there behaviour is more consistent. I changed to the Vit/min and all this has continued.
Supplements are such a minefield I need to keep it as cost effective as possible, anyone got any other suggestions?

Micronised linseed 100 to 200gm per day pony/ horse
Non molassed sugar beet [soak 15 mins in plenty of water
Some chaff for texture
15 to 30 gms minerals from Eqimins [orignial] , Forageplus or Progressive Earth or Feedmark [origina]l.
You don t need a fancy low value/high priced NAF supplements when you feed a good basic diet.
Pony nuts are full of molasses andcereals, and as for wheatfeed ......... :(
15-30 gms salt
The only cereal I would use is oats, and ponies generally don t need oats.

I'm not that far off with what I am feeding then really, beet I am using is non molassed.
I have previously fed linseed but stopped when I started feeding Alfa A Oil and didn't want to over oil them. Is this possible?
The Alfa A Oil has pilled weight on my otherwise awkward to keep weight on mare so reluctant to change that. But I could add the linseed in without too much hassle.
I will look at the supplements you have recommended.
The only cereal I ever use is Barley Rings for my shire as struggle to get enough calories in him in 1 feed. But if I am going to feed linseed I can replace the barley with that for him.
Thank you ever so much for your help

Pink powder is good for horses with digestive problems such as colic, it acts as a preventative by the probiotics in it. I've had my horse on it for over 8 years.

You can get straight brewer yeast, magox, whey protein and salt if you want to continue feeding the same as what is in those supplements for a lower cost. I think yea-sacc is the best priced if you want live yeast/probiotic.
