My hay comes from two suppliers and is very different to look at. The home-grown stuff I buy from YO is very thin stalks and the hay I buy in is fatter. Both are last year's hay. They are fed the same quantity of hay daily, regardless of which supplier but I've noticed that if they are eating home-grown hay, they produce more dung in 24 hours than if they eat the more fibrous stuff. I poo pick and count daily so that I know they're getting enough to eat and when they have home-grown I get around 45 poos in 24 hours, yet when they eat the thicker stalked hay they only produce around 35 (there are 3 of them)
I'm trying to work out whether this is better or worse.... any ideas?
