How would you treat these two problems...
1) Larvae (fly eggs/maggots) on the hooves
2) Mudfever

Just wondering on different methods or treatments would be used for the above problems.

Thanks

Scrub feet with hibiscrub or bactokil 55 and get a farrier out.

Mud fever with hibiscrub (I love hibiscrub!), picking off scabs, thorough drying and keeping legs dry with scrubbing once a day removing all scabs until scabs have gone. If the MF is particularly bad rub on a little savlon or sudocreme.

Maggots in hooves are killed with peroxide- the type used for bleaching hair dont get it near mud fever hooves only.
re mud fever My mare reacted badly to hibiscrub .Washing with weak solution of iodine and then drying with clean towel helped rub scabs off.I used betnovate to clear up infection.

mudfever i would wash with diluted hi bi scrub and water pat dry then apply flamazine cream. For the maggots i would clean with idion spray then apply tea tree oil and an antiseptic foot spray!
