Different type of grackle noseband?

I recently saw Andrew Nicholson warming up at a BE event in what looked similar to a grackle noseband, but not your traditional or mexican kind. It almost looked like the straps were atatched to the bit itself.

Can anyone possibly point me in the right direction of what I am thinking about?

Does anyone know if they are competition legal (BE, BS and BD?)

BS definately ok. Doubt they are dressage legal but would imagine ok for the jump phases of BE? My instructor is a big fan.

I asked both BD & BE if the micklem multibridle was dressage legal WITH the clips to the bit, earlier this year, & was told by both that while the bridle/noseband was OK, it was NOT permissible to use the clips to attach the bit to the noseband as this could exert nose pressure.

I think the competition bridle must be BE legal for dressage as it was in the dressage warm up that I saw AN riding in one.

I wonder if the competition bridle is BD legal?

He uses a Micklem bridle with some horses for the dressage, obviously without the clips as they are not allowed. The bridle has a different balance when you hold it to a normal bridle and some horses find it more acceptable and therefore have a better contact.
Yes, they are BD legal.
