Ive recently got back in the saddle after a few years break and ive realised as soon as I start riding my nose starts streaming and I have to breathe through my mouth and sniffle all the time.
Im asthmatic and a bit unfit but im not out of breath but forced to deep breathe out of my mouth as my nose is bunged up... :(
Ia this just fitness or something else. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks :)

My nose drips like a tap when riding in cold weather. It is more to do with the cold than respiration. I think it's normal, though I can still breath fine through my nose.

My nose runs constantly when I do anything but hacking between November and March, but I can still breathe fine through it. Maybe it's a variation of this? Have you noticed it when you're just around horses or when you're actually exercising? Taking some anti histamine before your next ride might determine if it is allergy related or not.

Do you ride in the same places all the time? I'm not asthmatic, nor do I get hay fever. But, I get hayfever symptoms from rapeseed, to the point if I hack past it, I feel like I've suddenly caught the flu, as soon as I am away from it, the symptoms rapidly go. It's a bit early for rapeseed, but its possible there is a plant or crop where you are riding that is causing it.

Like all the others I get runny nose in cold weather, I also get a touch of exercise induced ashma fortunately only when running! But with none of these I get a blocked up nose, so I am at a bit of a loss, sounds like it could be a bit of an allergy.
