My little 25yr old Cushings pony has Temporal Mandibular problems, he won’t eat chaff type mixes or mash, and struggles with some hay. He is ok with short grass (which is what he is kept on), but any suggestions what I can try him on when there is no longer any grass? He does eat Hi Fibre nuts, but it’s forage I’m wondering about. Thanks

It will be trial and error I'm sure but I had great success with Emerald Green grass nuts soaked that is forrage as just grass

I also used cheap DIY garden shredder to shred hay into short (2-3 inch) hay only chaff that he could eat - buying it would have been prohibitive but cutting it up myself was OK - bit faffy but worth it - fed in buckets as too small for nets

My old haffie gets a big bucket of grass nuts and speedibeet soaked as her bulk feed as she doesn’t have enough teeth.

Have you had the vet dentist sedate and clear out any diatemas? Mine needed it every six months in old age. Sedation is usually needed because they can be quite painful to clear and widen properly.
