My greyhounds have been on a raw diet for about 4 years now - no problems, they love it, they are the picture of health, they eat their food in about 20 seconds flat every day, I get their food from MVM so very happy with the consistent levels of quality.
Just recently however I've noticed that Amy greyhound has phases where she has to frenetically go out and eat grass - she will do it to the point where she is eventually sick after 2-3 days of grass eating. She then settles down to normal again, until the next phase which is usually 2-3 weeks later.
Today Flick greyhound is doing the same! Whilst they are in an 'eating grass' phase they are eating their food well, drinking normally, otherwise acting normally in every way, poo-ing normally etc - they just have lots of trapped wind so you can hear their stomach gurgling in the next room!
Any thoughts on how to stop this before I trot off to the vets again?
My lurcher used to have this once a month (he was fed a complete kibble not raw) where he would refuse his food for 24 hours, then would be back to normal the next day - the vet gave us charcoal tablets but to be honest I never found they really made much difference.
