Can anyone recommend a supplement for my 14 year old JRT? She’s fine most of the time but occasionally gets trapped wind. Shes fed on Nature’s Menu and incredibly fussy, although i can’t be sure what ‘extras’ she’s eating at the yard as she’s a prolific mouse hunter. Every two weeks or so she clearly feels uncomfortable for a day or so. You can hear her tummy gurgling. Then the smelly wind starts and she may also have soft stools for a couple of days (not always). I’ve mentioned it to the vet numerous times as they were unconcerned and just said to change her food, which is easier said than done as she will starve herself rather than eat a bland diet.

I tried the Yumove digestive supplement but that hasn’t made a difference.

I haven't had to use it yet but when I was having issues with Harvey and his tummy issues, I only heard good things about Bionic Biotic. I think, because it's targeting two areas, it has quite a few additives though, which might not be ideal. There was another one as well, that someone recommended to me, but I can't remember the name - possibly began with F. I'll have a search today and see if I can find it.

My collie has a sensitive tummy, has been ongoing for years. She has had various treatments but none have sorted her permanently. After a recent spell of soft, light coloured poos and gurgly tummy coupled with being off her food some days I succumbed to an ad which is doing the rounds on facebook and bought an expensive supplement called 'Canine Prime'. It looks and smells rather like a seaweed powder. Each tub lasts a month, she is now on her second and today is the first soft poo since she started on it. I blame that for her eating sheep nuts. To say I was sceptical would be an understatement and I have been amazed that it seemed to work. Keeping my fingers crossed it continues to. It does have very good reviews.

My relative's lurcher cross regularly got a gurgly upset tum.
She did well on Aviform Montytummy suspension, previously called Dickytummy.
It contains montmorillonite and attapulgite clays, rather like kaolin, which absorb any toxins. I think it was someone on here who recommended it.

Amazingly you can still by good old fashioned kaogel which is what the vets always used to prescribe years ago. Kaolin and pectin. Clears up simple diarrhoea really well. If it’s jelly and mucous diarrhoea it’s probably colitis which requires a dietary change.
