Hattie has a dodgy digestive system. If she is moved on to different grass (the rougher/weedier it is the worse she is) or on to haylage she gets quite runny and squirts liquid poo. She has to have her backend washed several times a day.
She recently spent 5 days at my work, on a armful of haylage morning, noon and night and by the 3rd day was very runny again.
I want to keep her at work for the winter so she can go hunting but this would mean she will have haylage. I am sure once she is used to it she will stop being runny but I can't take her hunting if she is going to squirt poo all over her back legs.
Does anyone know a good feed supp that could help her? She is feed at the moment on Baileys Low Cal, which contains Sea-yacc. I have tried Baileys Digest Plus, which is a prebiotic, would a probiotic be better?

Hi My old boy has a dicky tum - colicy rather than runny, but i recently put him on Dengie Natural Vitality Digestive Health Plus - my vet recommended it. Its not the cheapest but seems to do the trick. Its got pre/probiotics and yeast. There web page explains it all.
Hope your pony recovers from the squitsXxX

After my boys recent bout of mild colic I asked the vet if we could do anything to try to prevent it and he said a pre-biotic would be better because they work with the natural balance of the gut rather than the pro-biotic which introduces new bacteria. We have just started Oscar on the Digest plus. The weekend he got his colic he wasnt on it and he got into the mares field with lusher grass, but this morning he did the same - got into the same field again but *touch wood* seems fine so I can only assume the Digest plus is working

Diareeze from Global Herbs - have tried it on three of mine and it has worked amazingly well.

i would recomend pink powder as we had similar problems with our pony and she is fine whilst on this.

Sound the same as a little mare we have and I found pink powder made a huge difference.
