Why oh why oh why does she dig!! I have told her not to, sprayed her with a water spray, told her not to again, taken her by scruff of neck, shook her and said no again yet she returns to the same bloody spots and starts again...

Looked out the kitchen window today to see the funniest sight of half a dogs bottom in the air the rest had disappeared underground..

Why a husky..why why why :)

Because she's a dog? :p
Digging, pissing, chewing, jumping, barking, all part and parcel of being a dog.

Try diverting her attention with something else, a ball game, hide and seek game, bit of focus training for food etc. Right now, digging is the most interesting thing in her vicinity, show her there are more interesting things to do :)

Can I say I told you so? :p

Just make sure you keep an eye on her, even at this age they can and will dig under a garden fence - part of the reason Dax's previous owner was selling up was because he'd been threatened with court action from the woman next door, as the dogs had dug gigantic holes under her fence in order to pick fights with her staffy. He'd blocked the holes up with two wheelbarrows secured with bike chains.

Has she encountered molehills yet? Might get a bit of it out of her system, they can eventually learn what is appropriate to dig and what isn't. Don't think you can stop them entirely!

As CC suggests because she is a dog, but EVEN more so because she is a husky, and they are RENOUND for their digging skills, I have seen them tunnel through numerous garden in their ploy to escape too:rolleyes::eek:

It's fun, ,it's helps them reach cooler ground when it's hot, it helps them get to the lovely scent they smell below and it occupies them:D

Def occupy her more, but some kongs, and fill them with strong smelling goodies, like fish and hide them, as CC suggestes, create a game, some people actaully go with a sand pit, but weather this will detere the digging of ground is another thing.
Otherwise section off a hardcore surface for her to be out alone, and only let her on the lawn when you are there to deter her from diggin.

I like the sandpit idea, I'm shipping her off with grandma for the weekend to Abersoch so I can have some mummy time :)

I think I'll stock up on the kongs, she really has grown, she is 15 inches tall now!! Will take some piccies over the wkend of her beach holiday.

Beastie only digs while she is on the beach thankfully!

Although I had commented to my dad on how lucky we were to own bunnies that don't dig, went out over the weekend and Joey bun was making a rather good attempt at digging into Adrian's enclosure! Don't know why though. Adrian whoops his ass!

When mine where pups they where full on JCBs but now they dont dig that often infact its mainly just diablo in one of his loopy moments, its always the same spot that gets filled in again once hes finished.
I think the key is what others have said give her something more interesting to do whilst shes out there our garden is littered with toys but they still choose to play with each other and at the moment the way the weather is they go outside and sleep

My Lab only digs in one place and thats the place my mam likes her flowers to be planted.

He has yet to master how to dig properly and uses his nose instead of paws so doesnt get too deep, he can be there for ages though. He looks a right state when his finished and gives my mam and 'innocent, I didn't ruin your flowers' look whilst his face is covered in mud :)

I can only echo the bits about keeping him occupied and entertained, but dogs dig so I don't know if you'll be able to completely stop it

Stan LOVES to dig (the garden, the straw in my stable, the beach...). We have come to an agreement that he has a space in the garden where he is allowed to dig, but that digging up my flowers or the vegetables I have been lovingly growing is not acceptable. He has currently dug a hole in his digging space which is big enough for him to disappear into almost completely - it is one of his favourite things to do so I don't think we could stop him altogether.
