As title.

Pony is a little overweight (tried muzzle but she kicked self in eye trying to get it off) is now being strip grazed and exercised religiously. Weight slowly falling off. I however am worried about lami like lots of other owners. Her feet continue to be very cool to the touch - how accurate is this as a method of measurement?

Is digital pulse more accurate? If so, what is it and how do you take it?

Temperature of the feet is not a reliable method, if a horse is a sinker then the feet are often stone cold and the feet will be warmer if they have been stood in the sun for example.

The digital pulse is raised when there is inflammation in the foot, there is info on how to take it here:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV2v...w.ironfreehoof.com/equine-digital-pulses.html

While temperature of the feet is not always reliable where there is a good deal of congestiohn you can often see the pulse beating.

The above site has some excellent information - be aware some of the pictures are taken using a cadaver leg - but it does really help with the locatioin
