went to easton college today (local ag. college)
to talk about taking my bhs exams blah blah etcetc

we got on to pony club and camp
mum really wants me to go
but im not sure, i read the spec, and i cant do mounted games or polo with wilma, she is far to scatty and would really freak out so id end up going for the jumping and dressage, which i dont really mind because the other riding bits im not that interested in. i would enjoy the stable management bits etc, but i dont know about the social activities.

i dont know how to tell mum i dont think i want to go

im all up for joining pc and going to clinics etc, where i can still keep myself to myself a reasonable amount
but i think id feel like an outsider going to camp
and i doubt my riding so much i dont think im up to it

we dont have long to apply etc and i have to go to 2 rallies, but thats not happened yet,...

help

a bit confusing

Pony club camp was the best week ever...i would definatly reccomend you give it a try! If you don't like it you can always go home but it's such great fun and you don't have to do anything you don't want to. I borrowed a pony from a riding school because I didn't have one, maybe you could so something similar?

But if you really really don't want to, just say! no one's going to be annoyed at you, and especially if you don't think you or your pony is up to it, dont worry

Both ponies and riders improve lots at PC. I know a few peope who have felt kind of the same and really enjoyed it.

Its got to be worth trying don't you think?? There's other stuff to do, and you'll find something both you and wilma will enjoy. And you might just make friends meaning you wont feel an outsider at camp. At the end of it you don't HAVE to do camp, or every rally, just pick and choose what you want to do.

im kind of coming round to the idea
im still really unsure about getting everything sorted to actually get to go :s
whether i have enough time

Honest to god camp was one of the best weeks in my life back when I got to take one of my bosses ponies.
It was awesome and I just wished I'd done the PC stuff years earlier as I went when I was 16 and that's really the final final year for camp really...well personal opinion obviously lol but once you're out of school you feel slightly too old for it!

If you've got the chance, go for it =]

You don't have to stay overnight anyway if you can get there and back everyday.

Millie (the 1st pony in my sig) is doing camp for the first time this year with an 11 year old jockey. As we couldn't get her to two rally's before camp we took her for a private lesson with one of the PC instructors which has allowed us to do camp. I'm not sure if this will be the same with all PC's but it might be worth looking into?!

go go go go go go go ......

No idea what it's like these days but back in the dark ages it was the best fun EVER!!!!!!

We slept on straw bales in sleeping bags in a big barn. The ponies were in stables through an ajoining door and we "checked" them about 100 times a night.

I don't actually remember a whole lot about the riding side - except that the adults were having some kind of excited fit because Patrick Print was coming to teach us one of the days.

I do remember that lesson because he said my pony was very brave. At the time I thought it was a compliment but now realize he probably meant brave to keep going despite my riding!!!

I'm going to a pony-camp for grown-ups next weekend...REALLY excited, even though my pony is spooky and not allowed to jump. I hope we have mounted games!

PC camp was the best hoot ever, in terms of the riding, the socialising, and the generally having a brilliant time

.

The DC had a voice like a fog horn - which was interesting the time she bellowed across two fields at a girl galloping her pony when she shouldn't have been (would have worked if the girl in question hadn't been deaf. Oops

).

We snuck out at night..., but won't go into detail on that one

.

The place we stayed was someone's family pile - we got lost once looking for the swimming pool (indoor with a trapeze over it

), and had to go through the front door. Could have drowned in the carpet it was so deep lol.

All in all a brilliant time and one I'd well recommend going by my time.

Oh, and we did some horse stuff as well

. Riding twice a day, lectures, games, really good lessons for flat work and jumping.

Loved it

In fact, am thinking that when the Dizzy one is fit, I might see if Friend fancies going to a growed-up one...
