Some of you who have read my posts will know I have an 18 year old shettie stallion who sadly I have to geld due to livery yards no interested in having stallions, where I live there isnt even a number of livery yards you could negotiate with. I bought him as a companion for the cob, otherwise he would have ended up as meat, he has been a serving stallion all his life and his time had run out, he found me.
A couple of vets I have spoken to have said because of his age he would need a GA, which would mean taking him to horspital. Now I have just received a vet whom I have previously used who flushed out my fillies infected tendon sheath and she was 100% sound whilst another vet said just to wash it and bandage it, he has said that he doesnt need a GA and he would come to me and he would knock him out and do him lying down as a normal castration.
Help me decide if you know which is the way to go as I do not want to do anything that may compromise his health let alone his life.
