I'm in an odd situation at the moment. I'm looking to buy a horse and did have the perfect yard to keep said horse at, however that stable has now gone. So my problem is this, I'm looking for a horse but I don't have anywhere to keep him, and I also have no idea how long it will take me to find the right horse, so the question is, how do I find a yard and then keep my place until I find my horse?
I do have the option of a friend's field if I'm desperate, but would rather be on a yard to get to know new horse.
Any thoughts/suggestions greatly appreciated

If you find a yard with the facilities you want and a vacancy, you should be able to pay a retainer on it of about the cost of DIY stable rent. This will hold the stable until you find a horse.

Sorry I don't know yards in the area, your post just caught my eye because I used to go on riding holidays every year near Swansea. They've turned the place I used to go into an outdoor adventure holiday place now.

They might offer livery in the stables now though. L & A in Port Talbot.

Thanks Flame, I will ring around a few places and ask, the worst they can say is no! I know L&A, I remember hunts used to leave from there, haven't been there in ages. Thanks again for the help.

sorry to tag on when were you about at l+a i used to work there for a short time in 2002 think it was 2003/2004 that the riding part of the centre closed.

Thanks for replying, I shall get a copy of freeads and take a look. I'm looking for an arab gelding 15hh+ broken to ride, I know what I want now I just have to find him!

Last time I was down there was around 1997, so ages ago! I hadn't realised the riding centre had closed until posting this thread, not down that way too often
