Hi. I don't know what to do for the best. Went to see a lovely horse today who I felt would really look after me both in the school and out hacking. A bit smaller than I was looking for, but other than that, he was a real star. Problem is, there is another one I have set my heart on which is silly as I haven't even seen him yet! I am only going on photos and what the owner has told me. Do I risk losing the one I saw today to wait until friday to see the other one??? The one on friday is a bit bigger and I have fallen for him. The lady who owns him has told me so much about him and his pictures are gorgeous. The only problem is, he is 3.5 hours away from where I live, so it's not like I can 'pop' over to have a look at him. I feel really stuck! It is easy to fall for a horse from the 'sound' of him, but what if I have built him up to be something he is not? Can I trust what the seller says and risk losing the lovely horse I saw today!? This is all getting very tricky. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
xx

Does the owner of the first horse have anyone else coming to look at him? Most owners are more interested in the right home so maybe she would wait until you can get to see other horse. which brings me to my second qu. how long before you can get to see the second horse?

I would say that if you don't see the other horse you will always wonder... especially if the one you saw today turns out not as good as you thought. What will be will be!! It is a bit like being at an auction and the one that you quite like being at the beginning and the one you REALLY like being at the end, do you risk putting your eggs in one basket and not etting either? Can the lady not send you a video? Sorry probably not much help.

Hi, I can't get to see the other horse until friday. By which time the one I saw today might go. I guess the problem is that the type of horse I am after is in high demand and people don't hang around snatching up the good ones! I am tempted to put a deposit down on the one I saw today and then risk losing it if I change my mind on friday. Is that a silly idea?

Throw a sickie and go tomorrow?

Why don't you say you would like this one and say you will send the deposit and then stall ... don't lie just don't look for your cheque book too hard or miss the post or something.

I am not normally sly but this is a major decision that can't be rushed.

I think that might be the best option, could I expect to get my deposit back though, if I change my mind??? I don't want to mess people around.

No, that's kind of the point of a deposit

i would leave deposit, say you just have one other to see and allow the ohe first owner to have other viewings but you have first refusal until fri as you paid a deposit. i went to see a couple that i'd fallen for over phone etc, and they were as described but something just didn't click so i'd keep your options open!
