Well, I am having a mid life crisis and im only 33!

I hate my job and am looking for horsey jobs. Currently, I rent a nice little flat, have my horse in a lovely yard, have all my friends (but they are all married, have kids, own lives etc) and I earn good money to survive and have a couple of quid spending money.

However, I know my job is awful and I have come to the end of the road with it with no promotion and no greater money earning. This will be a job until I retire and think I may have gone crazy by then!

Now, I have seen some cracking horsey jobs, farily well paid and really excite me. BUT they are miles away from where I live now, the other end of the country! I am happy to move as working with horses would be fantastic. I haven't got the jobs yet am only at appliction stage, but:

..............would you:

a) move away and do the job of your dreams and miss your friends
b) stick with a ****py job and be happy with my life outside of work

I am single, have no ties to where I am and can take pony with me.

decisions, what would you do?

I would go for A. New friends can be made, and true friends will always stay in contact. However, there may only ever be one job of your dreams! Do it now, while you have the chance! Good luck!

Life is too short, go where you feel drawn to go, after all there is only one journey we don't return from!

Moving away from friends is tough, working with horses can leave you isolated from other people, esp if you aer going to work on a private yard. But, the world is getting smaller, its so easy to keep in touch by text, web etc.

Could you afford to pay the rental for your flat for a couple or three months so that if things didn't work out for you you would have somewhere to come back to?

I know if i was young , I would be off the drop of a hat.

Good luck

In 1984 I had the same dilemma. I worked in a secure job in a scottish bank, with cheap mortgage and perks. However I hated it!
I found a job on a private stud in Wales, sold my house and took my 2 dogs and my pony with me. I had a fabulous few months until I met my husband and got married that same year!
I have no regrets. I believe you only have one life so take your chances and follow your heart.
I have had several changes of career (but same OH!) since then but never regret anything that I have done and would encourage others to do the same.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
