DILEMMA - Please help

OK. First thing ring the organisers and explain the predicament. It is possible that they may allow you both to enter something at the same show.

If this doesn't work, then talk to your friend. Explain how you feel. But bear in mind that she could possibly feel that every time something good comes up, you will always claim it is your right. Although you own the horse, I am afraid that it is not really fair. Perhaps approach that this time you want to do the second round, and next time it will be her turn.

I share a horse with someone and we usually do toss of the coin to see who gets first pick. This means that the next "exciting" competition is then offered to the other person.

Yes I can see your dilemma....tricky one.

I think as it's his first then it should be you who rides him. Perhaps you can say to her that she can do the next one?

It is the Trialblazers so there is no way 2 people can enter.

I dont think she will feel that I always get first pick as if there are 2 tests I always allow her to pick which one she wants to do as she is less confident than me so i allow her to choose which she feels most comftable with as I like her to feel shes doing well on him aswell and getting the most out of him. Also for instance this weekend I want a break and there is a test on which I have said im quite happy for her to go to and will come along and help her if she likes to help her out.

If it was her that wanted to go to the test in the first place I wouldnt think twice about letting her do the next round, but it was me that wanted to go, she decided she would do the other test and by chance we both qualified.

Im very flexible and she gets to pick which days suit her to do my horse and will swap with her last min if she needs to.

Also I always tell her when shows are on and she knows shes welcome to take him even if im not wanting to enter.

I would consider myself as very fair, I have loaned horses in the past and my contracts have always stated that I needed the owners permission to take the horse off the yard, which is not the case this time as she is welcome to take him anywhere as long as we dont already have something planned.

I will see how she takes it when I tell her I really want to do it, if she really really wants to do it I will toss a coin.

But the fact is you have encouraged her and she is now enthusiastic which is great!
As long as she understands that this is not going to happen every time something comes up that you both want to do, then that's fine.

Is there only one prelim test in the second round? If so can you try to qualify for the novice as well as the prelim and do one test each?

Oooh I never though of that. I could have a go, although its only the 3rd time ive ever done a dressage test so im a bit scared to do the novice. Plus if I want to do second round I only have 12 days to put in my entry, otherwise will have to wait to see if I qualify again, and if I dont ive missed out completly.

I will have a look at the novice tests tonight and see if I can manage it. That would be the best way to go about it I think.
