As re my previous posts, horsey is going back to rescue centre for retirement due to narcolepsy and arthritis. They want me to have a look at another tb, this time a gelding but same height (16.1) and age (13). Apparently he is a "lively" ride but "sensible"...

Anyway my original plan was to save up for the friesian youngster I've always wanted BUT this means I will be a very long time without a ride, i.e. several years while I save and then get it backed, etc. All this when I mostly spend my time hacking and trail riding anyway.

So do I go with the rescued tb? Bear in mind horsey who is retiring took 10 months of serious rehab to get her over her napping and separation anxiety! Love tb's but am wondering if they're the best option for hacking... I want something that will hack while watching where it's going as opposed to looking at what's 5 miles away on the horizon!

I think you should go with your dream of having the friesian. Personally i would regret it later on if gave up the chance of what i really wanted. Ide save up for the youngster and perhaps advertise or find someone who needs help excersing their horse/s.

Good luck in what ever you decide to do!

A fresian youngster might not be the best horse for just a quiet hack either. Why not get an older, cobby type if all you want to do is hack?

I'd at least go and look at TB. Can't do any harm
