Dilemma - what should I do? - (Sorry...long)

Take it from me, NOT a goat. Sheep, yes. If all else fails, you can eat them

. They'll keep the field sweet, your mare company and dad happy! A goat will escape, moan about rain, not eat anything it is supposed to and your mare's tail/rugs/feed. If the mood takes it one day, it'll drop dead for no reason other than it felt like it.

Oh, and don't go down the broodmare route. Too many foals already

.

I wish her a long and happy semi-retirement in the home she knows and loves with just enough attention from her caring Mum and her newe (get it!) friends

If you can't get a pony, get a sheep! we had one in with our horses (well it wasn't our sheep but it climbed in from the common cos it was hungry,) sheep was with us for months! when the horse cantered up the field bucking and bouncing, Cilla (the sheep)

used to do the same, when it was raining she used to stand under the 17hh TB belly to shelter, the horses loved her, I'm sure Cilla thought she was a pony

TBH I got to yard tonight and felt really bad for even thinking it! Gave her good groom and nice big bed (she hates the rain) yummy haynet and kiss goodnight

I think sheep might me a better option than a pony or donkey though....sorry F_H and Bex! Although my mind is not made up completely...

Donkey. Donkey donkey donkey donkey donkey. Did I mention i think you should get a donkey? See, you've got two willing volunteers to help you look after something cute and cuddly (and donkeyish).
