What are people opinions on having a sharer a few days a week?
I am considering putting an advert out as my mare needs to be hacking out more in the week and with work it just isn't possible for me to do. I have plenty of time to school her but due to ringbon, sidebones and DJD this cant be done to help keep her fitness up and hacking is what she needs!
She is sound, she is well behaved but does admitedly have her spooky days (she is a tb) so I would need someone who is confident on the roads. We have good hacking but there is about 10 minutes or road work on a 60mph so a confident rider is paramount.
I need somebody to hack her during the day in the week, I would be flexible on days and also give them the opportuniy of the odd fun ride if someone from the yard is going and can take them. Would be lookg for a small contribution of maybe £20-£30 a week for 2/3 days and the odd chore here and there.

Do you think my expectations are fair and also contribution etc?
I worry as I know of people who have had bad experiences with sharers....

As from a sharer point of view I pay £25 a week usually go up 2or 3 days, but if I can I will go up everyday! (Unlikely though) and basically treat him as my own.
I think this is reasonable.
The relaxed nature of his owner makes the sharing situation work.

I share a TB at the moment. I pay £20 a week and school him once and hack him once :) There are defo lost of sensible sharers out there but I know people have had bad experiences. At the end of the day its your horse and you can decide if a certain sharer is not right!

I think that is reasonable. I have been on both ends of the share agreement, and the cost definitely depends on your circumstances. My friend charged £60 a month for a 3 day share of her mare, but that was OK as she was on grass livery, barefoot, no feed etc. My other friends charges £30 a week as she is at an expensive yard with good facilities, full set of shoes, feed etc.

You will soon know if you are priced correctly depending on the interest but it sounds fair to me.

Good luck x

Thank you for the replies! :)
I think it is the best plan of action for my mare, I just worry especially with her leg being bad! But I think I may put out an advert and see what kind of interest I get... Can decide after meeting people then if they are right for her!!
