A friend has recommended this, has anyone else tries it and also has it been successful. My pony does not suffer with sweet itch but seem to have very tasty blood, at the moment i am using coopers fly repellant plus and have also introduced global herbs fly free (which he is not too keen on)

Thanks

The YO at the yard uses it and it works v.well. There is one on the market that has benzyl benzoate in it, I use that and it seems to be v.good, will find out the name of it and let you know.

I have a vague memory of bb being carcinogenic....

Yes, you are correct. BB is still the substance of choice for SI sufferers, and should ideally be applied with gloves. personally I wouldn't choose it just as a fly repellant and no other reason such as SI.

thanks for the info, it was recommended by friend and wondered if it really worked, now i know this i won't use it (hadn't yet anyway).

Thanks guys

I used it all the time on my horse with sweetitch and it worked really well to keep midges off but not the other flies. In the end though, I think it desensitised his mane and he ended up being a headshaker at the age of 19!!
