Now this is going to be a daft question, but one of my lads was growing a fine 'tash on his upper lip and then noticed yesterday it has gone!

Can a 'tash suddenly be rubbed off or what? It looks like it has been clipped off a very tidy job with no sign of trauma or different length of hair being left. It was so neat that I had initially presumed that for some reason that my friend had done so for some reason (which surprised me!) as she is the only other person dealing with the horses. However, she is bemused as me. The horse in question is funny about letting me anywhere near his head with a set of clippers although he is fine elsewhere.

Please solve the mystery!

I can't solve your mystery I'm afraid but Bodey grows a wicked tash in the winter, but once he goes back out 24/7 he loses it, I presume it just get worn away.

One of our fells grows a tash at work. It rubs off when she's grazing it's a lot bigger in the winter when out less then gets smaller and then completely disappears in the summer.

Hmm, don't think it is his grazing as he is turned out usually 24/7 all year round when possible but during the winter when weather rough, I do bring him in overnight.

Horses have had rugs back on this week with all the wet, so beginning to think it is may be friction scratching his friend with rug on?

My friend's horse just been turned back out with my lads. This horse has had only a shetland for company so beginning to think that they have been mutually grooming (or playing) more than normal.

Does that seem likely? Can't think of anywhere else/thing he could have rubbed it off on.

My boy always grows a brilliant moustache when he's wearing his muzzle as it obviously doesn't wear the hair away like grass, but as soon as the muzzle is off his tache disappers v quickly.

A friend of mine has a cob who dons the biggest moustache when he's in his winter woolies, but he's totally "clean shaven" when in his summer get-up. So maybe yours will return in due course??

This happened to my boy just after my sister had cut his tail & pulled his mane. I asked if she'd cut that too but it just magically disappeared!

I have to say I am a bit scissor happy and love trimming feathers/bridle paths and must have straight tails, however even I didn't trim it off :D

I thought his 'tache' was cool and even took a piccy, so I can now show the difference!
