went to view a horse today for daughter and on paper sounded perfect.sane sensible schoolmaster but not anything like advert, very forward going and strong.think weve gone up 2 levels instead of one but cant understand why people arent more honest from the start.

That really annoys me. Then they have the cheek to think that we are the ones wasting their time. Where if they put the truth in you wouldnt bother going to see it.

understand, but its not always the case. We are selling a perticular horse who can vary, she tends to look at everything out hacking and then other days shes quiet. These people came to see her and we had noted that she was a forward going ride, but safe. The girl got on, grabbed up her reins untill they were 2 inches short and the mare, in all fairness, didnt know what to do and threw her head up. so they said they didnt think she had been broken in very long..and the mare was 7!! shows that people dont really listen to you, and tend to do their own thing, even with knowledge of the horse in hand..but as i said, it works both ways.

good luck finding a horsexx

have to say its not always one sided, horses go different for different people.Take me i have a fizzy bum i can get on a real slow plod and have it fizzing on its toes.

It could very well usually be a quiet ride but maybe did not feel comfortable with your daughters riding style [no offense to her meant]

Or just a change in the weather can upset a usually ploddy ned to be more highspirited than usual.

What a shame, but there will be a pony out there for your daughter.
Even if its just given you ideas of more questions to ask the seller before you go to view next time, it won't be time wasted.

My comment is more along the lines of going more than a 100 miles to see a horse and it was in the add as 15.1hh got there and it was more like 14hh.

Yeah some people out there ride with electric prods in their bums

am i wrong in thinking schoolmasters could be forward and strong - my mare is a sj schoomaster (sit on and off she goes) but is still very forward. it means they know their job or have expertise in an area.

sorry not being rude but may explain the misunderstanding..
