Disappointed with my Le Mieux

After reading everyone here rave on about how wonderful Le Mieux saddle cloths are, I was itching for my current one to die so I could go online shopping.
Which it did, and I did.
I bought 2 dressage numnahs, but have to say I'm quite disappointed. They only have little ties which I'm assuming go through the d ring? I'm used to the long, Velcro tabs which you put under your flap and around your girth points.
Anyway... I put them through the d ring, but then I can't really pull the cloth up into the gullet and it ends up flattened across his wither, squashing him.

Am I doing something wrong here? How can I attach the numnah but not have a squashed horse?

I like them because they attach to the D rings. I've not had any trouble with them pulling down.

Are the D's set quite low on your saddle? Does your horse have very high withers (mine have low withers)?

You may find that Le Mieux just doesn't suit your horse/saddle combination - it doesn't work for my lad.

We use Nuumed which also have the tabs to the D-ring and I much prefer those to the traditional strap-to-girth-strap tabs!

Lovely pads and I like the smaller tabs but don't work for me as they disappear up the gullet at the back of my saddle

I use the short tab ones and find they work wonderfully with my boy who has what I'd call a flat to normal wither. I use the dressage and the CC with no issues whatsoever. I actually prefer them to the long strap ones. Le Mieux do also do the long tab ones.

However, not everything suits every horse. For example, the Le Miuex dressage pads fit my boy beautifully but the Eskadron ones are so deep that I find I'm using my leg on saddle cloth rather than horse LOL

Use the CC with my jump saddle and regularly forget to even attach the D ring tabs and they don't move and definitely don't press on the withers. Maybe wrong for your saddle.

The dressage one should have a little inner loop inside the girth loop, so that if you're using a dressage girth the left hand girth strap slots through the inner loop and stops the pad slipping back. Quite hard to explain, but have a poke around the girth straps and you'll find it. When I bought mine they told me that little loop means that the tabs at the tops of the saddle aren't as important. They do still do the longer velcro, but not in all colours. They call is the 'standard strap', rather than 'D-Ring':

I like my le meiux saddlecloths, I've the short tab ones and are used on normal double flat jumping & dressage saddles. only thing I find awkward about short tab is attaching the breastplate straps can make it a bit tight! Never had it tighten on the withers. I think the short strap ones look much smarter than the long straps :)

You can choose long or short strap le meiux ones though :)

Not a problem with the fit but I seem to have a problem with the colour coming out onto my horse, even when dry!?.

I think I am the only weirdo who doesn't use any of the tabs on numnahs. Don't kill me. :p

Is the quality still good? I really want to get my boy one but unsure of the quality.
