I have never been well off, never had much money to spend and if I wanted anything nice for my horse I had to save for it or go without.

Last year my uncle died and left me a bit of money. Never had so much money before, can now afford a few treats. One of the things on my wish list was a Witney gold stripe day rug, not one of those fleece copies, the real McCoy.

Found this website:-

http://www.fridayfox.co.uk/witney_blankets_13.html

As you can see the rug pictured has black stripes and black binding, just what I want as my travel boots, stable bandages, tail bandages, tail guard, ropes and surcingle (I ordered a rug without x surcingles) are all black.

As there were no colour options listed on the website for this particular rug, I assumed that I would get a rug with black (or near black) stripes and black binding, which would go with all the gear I already have.

So I was quite disappointed this afternoon when I recieved my new rug to find that it has navy stripes and navy binding! :(

What with this AND the chup looking but expensive saddles I tried last week AND the chippy I booked to replace my kitchen has signed himself off with depression and cancelled AND the OH getting p*ssy about having to hang round at a gymkhana this morning, I am not the most cheerful.

'Kin typical - couldn't get what I wanted 'cos I had no money, now I've got money I still can't get what I want!

At least you have kept your sense of humour Marmalade!!

How frustrating - ah well, tackle one at a time and I hope when you point out their mistake they'll be more than happy to send you the right one...

Yep, they said they'd give me a full refund.

They do have the Shires ones in a local tack shop and they have black binding, but Shires, I think, are a bit of a 'value' brand, and I thought the FF would be better. How wrong ????

The money isn't making you happy so I suggest you send it to me and I'll see if it will make me happy. I promise to spend it on Wine, chocolate, Katie Price's latest pink collection and Lidl's latest equine travel wear.

Yes there is a rule about being able to return items classed as distance selling (i.e bought online without actually seeing the item) within 7 days i think as long as in original condition and packaging (or well repackaged ).

The seller should offer you a full refund inlcuding your original P&P costs but return costs are usually responsibility of the buyer unless otherwise agreed (like Next catalogue where you get free returns!!).

£12 sounds expensive to return rug???

You're right, I haven't been so miserable for a while.

However, I won't be allowing anyone to line KP's pockets with my money!

The proper shires wool 'old skool' ones are really nice, sorry to hear you're having such a pain actually getting what you pay for!

At least you have a very hansom pony who would look good in anything. Thats the main thing :) Glad they are giving you your money back.

Hope you doing well and got some hunting in over the season. Will PM you when I get a chance, stupidly busy as per usual.

That's true, he is exceptionally handsome :D

Managed to get out three times this season, twice with the Vale and once with the Cots (Jen's meet). He was a very good boy and we even did some jumping
