Should have been at Moulton today after volunteering my younger dog to be a 'stooge dog' for an Agility Instructors course. However she is not right. Been depressed since yesterday evening and wanting reassurance and now this morning doesn't want to eat. She normally has a cast iron stomach so I am worried about her. Had to cancel Moulton which I felt bad about, don't like letting people down but I was assured they had plenty of dogs. I opened a tin of Chappie thinking it might help her only to find it had gone off:mad:. No doubt there will be fireworks tonight which will upset both dogs. Had some last night and they freaked. Grrrr.

Is she eating? Maybe swallowed something? Maybe dose with kaolin and give it a few hours. Hope she’s ok and it’s just a temporary thing.

Yes she is spayed. She did eat a few fish treats from my friend this morning but has thrown them back up. This is so unlike her. My other dog has a history of a dodgy tummy and I wouldn't be worrying about her as I know a few hours without food and she is fine but this one is just never ill. If no better in the morning I will definitely be on the phone to the vet. Actually think she may have done me a favour not being able to go to Moulton. Lots of reports of flooded roads and trees down in Northamptonshire.

Has she pooped?

Not since first thing and that was slimy and had a little blood in it. I have been feeling her stomach and it doesn't seem painful or distended. I am probably getting ahead of myself but worrying about an obstruction or even an intussusception. Hopefully that is just me jumping to worst case scenario.

I was going to say she has done you a favour not going out today. It’s awful. My old boy has lost his field shelter in Harleston Firs. Thankfully not in it at the time.
Hope she is feeling better soon.

Update. She is back to normal today, eating and bouncing around as normal. She passed a rather slimy motion with some fresh blood in it so I would guess she had a touch of colitis. Very disappointed not to go yesterday but have to say I am relieved not to have been out in that awful weather.

Sorry to hear about your field shelter, is it a write off?

I always have activated charcoal powder or tablets to crush and add to any animal food if they’re seeming off with their stools. The charcoal is great for pulling out bacteria/toxins in the gut maybe causing the issue. Kaolin clay as mentioned works similarly, yet i prefer charcoal if i have that to hand. Only a teaspoonful required for medium dog. Tablespoons for horses!

Trouble is, if the animal isnt eating, its hard to get it down them. Scrambled egg? Tin of tuna?

eta! Sorry, missed your update post - glad shes better!

I've missed your post but I'm so glad she is better, what a worrying time for you.
