I have just been to check on Blossom and she has some slight discharge coming out around the vulva. Nipples still have waxing but no milk. Just wondered if discharge is normal as with age and no history was concerned about infections etc? Any advice yet again much appreicated. I have looked online but its confusing me even more.. sorry!

Don't worry it can be quite normal, mention to your vet at post foaling check and they will treat if any concern of infection. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

I don't know!

But I was hoping you would post today - I was just about to ask how things were going.

Thats good then things are hopefuly moving along! Read somewhere when I googled it about some horrible infection and had a little panic (fairly constant the the mo!). Thank u

I was looking at some other sites (tretchory!) and they said that this means its fairly iminent?? Anyone have any opinions?!

I don't think I would survive another week! I've never had this level of stress before! She is looking jittery again and lots of tail waving and stamping but I think we have been there before so won't go getting over excited yet!

My mare is in foal and due next May. Mine and her first. I must admit, reading yours and Mrs Magoo's posts, I don't know whether to look forward to it or not now!

Ooops...Kerilli i've been at it again! Lots more discharge now though quite dark in colour (snot coloured) she is definately a bit saggy behind now but other than that no change!

I can honestly say that i never even looked under the tail of one of my infoal mares until the first hoof appeared!
chill, woman!

you are going to fret yourself into a right state at this rate, and maybe rub off on her a bit. you are now banned from doing more than glance at her from a distance, until 6.15pm, okay?! only exception is if she's down on the floor groaning and heaving!

But how will I know if I can't go outside?!!

I will have to behave now cause OH is getting V.SICK of Blossom watch being the sole topic of conversation, for some reason he is not interested in her discharge.. selfish hey?!

While you are studying discharge you might as well occupy your time by giving her a nice wash around her lady parts - use clean cotton wool and wipe away with a VERY dilute disinfectant solution - and around the udders. Not only will you make her more comfortable you will be cleaning away any unpleasant bacteria/fly material ready for when the foal arrives and wants to suckle.
You can do this every day while you are waiting.

She has stopped eating again and is up and down allot. Bump is also changing shape constantly so maybe it will be a timely cleaning. Just got to find the torch....

Ps. Kerili I did last until 6.20 so getting slightly better!!

i hope it's tonight for your sake, but i hope you're not holding your breath too hard...! good luck!
i'll have my mobile with me if you need advice in the middle of the night... but only call if you can see a pair of hooves and a nose!

Next thing will be blood test results, not pregnant LOL. Old owner called last night @ 11pm she is helpfully convinced i am imagining it all and it must be imaculate conception. . . Although semi unconcious from lack of sleep and extreme stress my ponio is waddling like an elephant, has a bottom like jelly, her lady bits are sagging, and she is waxy with a growing udder so i'm not convinced on that one....!

Ask us for name suggestions, when the child is born! (Apart from the obvious if it is the immaculate conception - I'm not sure yelling 'Jesus' across the field gives quite the right impression........ LOL)

PMSL has news of Jesus got as far as deepest darkest Derbyshire?!! I suspect now we have monsson conditions if I turn her out she will decide to have a long drawn out birth in the rain!!

Well, that will be the clincher. If the foal walks on water - it's definately Jesus!

Blossom is waiting for the weather to pick up! Or waiting to just make sure you stress just a bit more or waiting to see what tasty treats she might get for tea?? lol

Small world! I haven't been here long so its nice to find a few more locals other than Keltic whose nerves I think im destroying too!

I think you may be right! I have been told off this morning for disturbing her all night so am off to buy a baby monitor so as I can spy on her from the house. The poor terriers are knackered too with me keep falling over them on my way out to check!
