Just booked for my Disco to have 4 new tyres....(at mahoosive cost)....I am having the brakes checked as well at the same time, want to get organised before the really bad weather kicks in.....

....worse case scenario for brakes to be done?

Anyone had the lot done and how much did it bankrupt you?

Cheers

Tyres going to cost £330 but I've gone for the qwik-fit option in Ponte.....otherwise its so much of a hassle - need the car for yard, drop kids at school and then bomb to work.

So if you see me crying outside qwikfit on friday lunchtime...then its been baaaaaad

Discs and pads on my disco were not far off 500 beans a few years ago

If kwik fit still do the lifetime guarantee thingy on brakes though and you aren't planning on getting rid of disco any time soon it doesn't work out so bad. I had replacement brakes at no cost earlier this year

or if it's more convenient to QF, get a quote and tell QF to match it, ours used to be a Humphries and always price matched, and the guy there still does (thankfully plenty of tyre places locally)

Dont know where some of these prices come from, I got 2 brand new tyres fitted balanced and tracking done on my Terrano for £130.00 all in, methinks the word Rover on the bonnet actually means rip me off big time as I'm a sucker.

Or thick fit, they're either thick as sh*t or they treat you like you are, just because I'm female doesn't mean I don't know what a spark plug is!

Ditto! Thankfully my dad is more than capable of doing most things with the cars (over the years has done numerous head gaskets, cylinder heads, brakes, steering racks etc. as a result of owning ancient cars). Unfortunately my breaks went a few weeks ago and as I'm at uni 2hrs from home I had to take to a garage. I'll definitely appreciate my dad more from now on!

I think our last lot of disco tyres were £80 each. Last time my corsa needed new tyres I took 2 of the wheels in the boot of the landy and drove them to the tyre place. I nearly had a heart attack when the man looked out the window at the landy and said it would be about £160

Good for you.....it cost more than that when I had my Golf....I would rather pay more for the correct spec. of tyre......
