I had a recall letter today stating that Disco 3 (and some other models) have suffered excessive wear in the swan neck removable tow bar which could lead to failure whilst towing. I had mine replaced with a fixed one at my own expense for this reason in Jan '13, so rang JLR to look for a refund. Took 2 phone calls to JLR and 1 to the dealers but they have agreed to refund me the parts and labour £442). I still need to take it to my local dealers for a safety inspection, but JLR will then refund me.

Hi, this is interesting, we also had ours replaced at our own cost late last year.
Did you replace with a genuine land rover hitch or another type?
Can you give me any more details who to contact.
Thank you.

Genuine LR part done by an LR dealer.

I spoke to LR Customer Care using the number on the letter. Have you received the letter? They accessed the DVLA owner database so it should get to you. The dealership were useless - "its a dispute between you and LR, nothing to do with us."

Please if you've had one of these recalls act on it, when I think we towed our two ponies with a tow bar that was instantly condemned when it went in, on the motorway the thought of what could have happened makes my blood run cold
