What would you pick, both same price

P reg discovery TDI 94 000 miles (leather big plus with baby )

or

W reg Scenic 4X4 67 000 miles

wanted for towing trailer for ponies, an family car.

are discoverys very expensive to run? what are they like for tax? work an ponies only 1 1/2miles away but we do clock up the miles

Depends on trailer and horses weight. Discovery will tow anything you might have to watch with scenic.

Discoveries are ok to run, can be expensive if something major goes wrong, our old r reg used to do about 25mpg towing. Have no idea about the scenic.

Discovery any day, thats what I use and its great, an M reg has no trouble with a Rice B60 and two big horses

I love my discovery. It is a 1998 R reg and I have had it for 8 years now. It hasn't cost me very much in repairs *touches wood* and has been reliable. It has 120,000 on the clock and hopefully it will go on for another 120,000!
It will tow anything although it is quite thirsty about 23 mpg.

I'd go for the discovery over a scenic, they were never very popular as a 4x4 tow vehicle, check the vin plate to see what their MAM is. MAM maximum aurtherized mass. new term for train weight. It would need to be 5 ton or so.
