This is my first post so hi 😄
I've got to do either a discursive or persuasive essay for my higher english course. It's my first essay at higher and I'm used to being told what subject to write about and they end up being slightly dire so I thought that writing about something to do with horses would be a good idea as I'm actually interested in the subject. I have no idea what to do it on though. I've it one idea but I'm not sure whether its a good one though: are slaughterhouses a good way to solve the problem of the overpopulation and neglection (sp?) of badly bred horses?
I would appreciate any ideas of your own and whether mines an okay idea.
Cookies for anyone who's got through my ramblings 😄

I think equine slaughterhouses would be a good idea. Hunting still tends to have a certain amount of controversy surrounding it so you could do something along the lines of why the ban was a good or bad idea, depending on your opinion. Same with racing, for example is it right to race a 2 year old, or the Grand National- national institution or animal cruelty.

Be careful that the essay isn't boring for a non horsey person. If your marker gets bored you may not do as well as you could. On that note racing/ hunting may appeal more to someone not horsey.

You have a good idea, however I would agree that you may be safer using a more 'neutral' subject within equine, such as racing. Good luck

hunting and racing are good but unfortunately they were shot down by the teacher when someone else wanted to do them but thanks for replying :)

Well, it is current.... In fact the argument brought forward by Princess Anne was to do with people eating horses to bring more to slaughter to help welfare. Very current and topical.

Good luck!

Thank you for talking about this – it is still relevant now. I tried to write about an essay, and to make it work well, I turned to for help and did not regret my choice – everything was done on time, without plagiarism, with using real sources. In general, I am satisfied
