The dressage and SJ World Cup finals started yesterday and I watched the short GP test. I don't really mind this new test although I know a lot if others aren't fans.

However, it is interesting how last minute changes to the qualifying rules cost some people a place at the finals and allowed certain others in. I can't feel that changing rules to suit certain riders is ever going to do the sport any favours. I also noted some scoring discrepancies, but mostly tests reflected scores.

This Eurodressage article on it has more info.

What are others thoughts?

I don't know enough to entitle me to an opinion on scores, but I think it's one thing to change rules to make it a bit more accessible for good reason - BD did that during lockdown - but not in a way that means those who thought they had qualified suddenly hadn't with just weeks to go.
