Disgraceful

No knowledge of this story but have volunteered at an animal shelter that specialised in older animals. Quite a few over the years came in obese from elderly owners who over-fed them and couldn't exercise them (not to this extent but some were pretty bad).

In at least one case the owner had been developing dementia and couldn't remember feeding the dog or see that there was anything wrong with it.

Not that it mitigates this case at all, but I'm not surprised that it could happen
 
What a nice story, doesn't Obi look better and I don't think we should be too harsh on the original elderly owners, they clearly recognized that they could no longer care for him properly. I cant believe the Dachshund charity's attitude, you think they would be pleased with his progress. If the new owner has managed to get publicity to pay for his veterinary care then hats of to her.
