Disguising White Hair

Any tips on disguising white hair which should be black but came through white after a injury. I have searched for a suitable black dye on the web but cannot find anything. Any suggestions .

Short or long term? If it's short term you could try a film/tv makeup supplier that do products suitable for animals. IE not going to irritate or cause a problem if he licks it.

was going to sugest the same thing. I used boot polish years ago when showing.

Not sure if it's a big or small area but for my veteran black gelding I use black waterproof mascara to cover up the odd grey hairs on his face!

Spray on sheep marker works well.

Afro hair dye (on eBay, bleach/peroxide free powder that you mix with water. Called Stasofro or something like that???) works well too, but test it carefully, it makes my horses white skin very pink. It should be OK on black skin.

A friend of mine has had a lot of success in veteran showing - her horse has white hairs on a leg following an old injury and she uses "Just For Men". Do a small patch test first elsewhere like the rump and if all OK after 48 hours try it on the area that you need to disguise. Apparently it is widely used!

a marker pen does the job well.

Potassium permanganate from the chemist. Mix it with a little water and brush it on with an old tooth brush. Worked really well on my horses black legs, you could build up the colour & it lasted a week or two.

I agree with the just for men or a human air colour - test patch everything first though!
