Hi all! New horse arrived today, fantastic! However, the stable has not been disinfected - horse is tucked up in there tonight but should I disinfect it tomorrow, and what with? And also, can I continue to use the bedding thats in there, or does it need to be replaced as its been in a dirtyish environment? many thanks!

Did the stables old resident have something wrong with them? If not I wouldn't be too bothered about disinfecting, horses move stables all the time into ones that have recently had other horses in and not been disinfected and don't suffer any problems.

not that I know of! But the walls are quite mucky, and there are a lot of cobwebs! Did the best I could in short time I had but can go back in and give a thorough cleansing tomorrow if need be

PFFT not much point in disinfecting unless the previous reident had a condition you can really use whichever bedding you prefer it doesnt really matter try to keep the dust levels down incase the horse is asmatic =]

I leave cobwebs so the spiders can catch the flies!!

When ever we get a new horse we use GLOOP... but remember to keep the horse separate for min of 2 weeks.. just in case the horse might bring some thing to your yard....

I read very recently that the manufacturer's of Jeye's Fluid have changed some of the ingredients and it could now have an adverse effect on livestock. Apparently it is lethal to pole-cats and ferrets, but haven't heard how badly it would affect horses, so DO be careful!!!!
