As title Laska has dislocated her off fore inside nail, it does go back until she walks on it then sticks out sideways. Vet says it won't go back permanently and I can have it taken off but it may grow back the same way. I don't think I have much option as it catches on things and then she's lame. Has anyone had one go back?

She's already looking at surgery for a uterine stump pyometra, we are trying a month of antibiotics first but she is still showing mild infection signs so I'm not holding much hope of avoiding surgery!

Between small dog and Shetland pony with ulcers I think they are trying to bankrupt me but they are so worth it!

I have had one do this with a claw and it was fine but if it is the whole toe I wouldn't know. If it is just the claw I'm sure they can kill the nail bed so it won't grow back if it's going to be a problem?? You can with people anyway LOL.

My dog pulled a nail like this when he was about a year old, it was sticking out at an angle and clearly painful. Took him to the vets and she took him out the back with some assistance from the nurses and ripped it off. I could hear him screaming. Ever since then he’s been absolutely terrified of vets ? not sure if this is usual practice, seems pretty brutal to me in hindsight but I just accepted it at the time ? I was mainly just relieved that it was off and no longer catching/sticking out at that nausea-inducing angle. The claw has grown back, at a very slightly odd angle but you wouldn’t notice unless you were looking for it.
