I managed to dislocate my knee yesterday and spent most of the day in the hospital. I eventually got sent home on crutches and with a full leg bandage on. I have an appointment at the fracture clinic a week today so I guess until then I don't know too much, I was going to ask how long it will be until I can start riding again but just wanted to know if anyone on here had any experience in dislocating their knee and roughly how long it was until they where riding again.

I'm so upset it's happened, I was going to start bringing my horses back into work today after their 3 week holiday and I'm meant to be going to wales and west in a couple of weeks! Had planned to go to bolesworth and a couple of other international tours in europe this summer :(

Ouchy!

I think it depends if there is any other injury to the knee tbh, but it sounds like you have done a proper job.

I have a knee that dislocates occasionally, but pops back in, it then aches for a few days but that is all - nothing like what you have experienced.

If nothing else is found at the clinic then I would be doing as much as the knee allowed, and don't cheat and use painkillers to be able to do more :)

I feel for you, I have done this a few times.
I did a lot of soft tissue damage as well, was in full plaster for 2 months, then a back slab, but I then developed complications with RSD and it took me 9 months before I could bend it again!
I am sure you will bounce back quickly, but if you get the offer of physio then take it.

It is quite sore!

I don't think i've done any other damage to my knee, I had x rays taken but they didn't mention if there was anything else wrong. My knees pop in and out occasionally but they've never gone all the way out and stayed out. My hips, pelvis and shoulders do it too, currently awaiting physio for those. But the other annoying thing is that I'm waiting for a steroid injection in my coccyx which again will mean I can't ride for a little bit after :(

Ah well, think I might just leave them in the field for another week until my appointment at the fracture clinic. I don't think it will do them any harm to have some more chill time!

Im 6 months into a recovery from a dislocation. I have to say I am still in pain and now have musculer issues with the leg from limping ect I still cannot fully extend leg kneel ect
