Dry Rot
Well-Known Member
I feed round bale haylage ad lib in the field from a hay rack and inevitably there seems to be an awful lot deposited on the ground that nobody will eat. In the past, I have raked it up and dumped it in a corner which isn't ideal. Even though I have all the equipment, it is still a chore and the heaps don't seem to be in any hurry to rot down. Any ideas?
I've just hitched up the hay turner and thought I would try treating it like hay in the hope of drying it out, then putting a match to it but I am not sure this will work at this time of the year.
Any bright ideas anyone?
