I bought 2 wormers for my horses yesterday one being a sec a filly that neede worming. so i unpack the wormer and adjust the gauge to the correct dose of worming and turned the gauge round so it locked in place.so then i go to worm her and the gauge gives way and she had the whole wormer!!!! i did my other mare no problem at all with the gauge it locked in place.so i have written a letter of complaint to verbac.iv never had a problem with there wormers before.they could have killed my mare and she could have colic i was so mad.

Oh how frustrating.

However I wouldn't worry too much re: the dose as I was discussing equimax with my vet just a couple of weeks ago, and he told me they're tested at doseages several times the recomended dose with no adverse reactions.

(I'd been using a weight tape and underwormed my skinny old lady, that's how we got on the subject)

yes i was rather worried however this morning when i checked on her she was fine.i wrote them a letter explaining what happened and sent the wormer with it so they could see for themselves.:)

I've done this to my weanling, I handed the wormer to someone to hold, having adjusted it and shot the lot down him!! Phoned the vet and he said don't worry, he will be fine and he was. Just peeved as it should'nt happen.

It happens a lot with this wormer, and happened to me, I gave 4 times the correct dose, but they do have a fairly high overdose safety margin.

Yep - did the same with this wormer with my filly when she was only 4 months old. Called the vet - as she literally had the whole tube and he said it should be ok; and she was!

Yep same happened to my 4 month old colt and he was ok. Daft thing was my other horses tend to spit out half the wormer but he swallowed the hole blooming lot typical. There must be something wrong with the locking systems though if it's happening to others.
