Hi guys,

I am undertaking my dissertation on artificial insemination within the Thoroughbred industry in the UK and how introducing this could affect the industry. It's a very short survey, takes about 5-10 minutes to do (depending on your answers) and is mixed questions with multiple choice and some asking for your opinion and to give a reason to back up your opinion. All breeders (TB and sports horse) and all people who work within the industry can take part in this survey.

Only people over the age of 18 though please as I do not have permissions for people under 18 to answer this survey.

Thank you in advance, any responses I get are very much appreciated!

When i was finishing school, college, university any essays and disertations i had to do were completed by gathering and sourcing the information and if need be hands on experience, that is why i have never completed any of the dissertation requests made on H&H because i feel it is too easy to get others to do the work for you and you just pull out the good bits and put them together to make good reading.

Just my opinion, not sure how anyone else feels, but good luck anyway.

I doubt OP is just going to hand in the survey results as their dissertation! ...And this is a form of 'gathering and sourcing information'!

Thank you, hopefully I can get a few more responses this way.

If only it was that easy for me!! I would much rather be able to read through thousands of journal articles etc, rather than driving around the UK to interview people in my own time, or send survey upon survey every day to hundreds of people who refuse to give me the time of day as they do not believe in the topic I am researching, never mind people not wanting to put their names to their opinions as they are too worried they will lose their jobs.

My dissertation is also based on peoples opinions and perceptions of AI being used in the TB breeding industry, and how they feel this will impact the whole equine industry. There is very little to no research done on this. In fact, the last (and only other) dissertation written on this subject was done in 1997 and cannot be traced anywhere!! There are no scientific journals to back up any of this information or my subject either. I am hoping this is a dissertation that will give the industry an insight into what it is the breeders and employees want, rather than what the money wants.

There isn't 10,000 words worth :p in all seriousness though, thank you to everyone who has filled in this survey. It is very much appreciated and some of the opinions and feelings that have come out of this are very surprising, but in a positive way :)
