So I am in my final year on my BSc Equine Scince degree and I need to do a dissertation. Only problem is I am really struggling to think of an idea. I would like to do something nutrition related. Does anyone have any ideas? I have done loads of reading etc but just can't seem to find anything that floats my boat!
Thanks in advance

Ulcers are a hot topic at the moment. How about feed/nutrition revolving around ulcers such as prevention/post treatment etc. Never done a dissertation, so if thats useless advice then just ignore me!!

Why don't you contact some of the feed companies and explain that you're interested in equine nutrition and are looking for a 'live' project/topic/issue that you can use as a basis for your dissertation? Who knows, they may be interested in sponsoring you to do this and/or there might even be a job or at least some work experience at the end of it.

Good luck!

what about ways to promote a more alkaline environment, if that would reduce the likelihood of ulcers?
(e.g. a friend recommended adding Bicarb of Soda to my horse's feed to try to accomplish this, not sure if it would help though.)
The effect of Aloe Vera juice on the pH of the stomach, and ulcers?
the link between ulcers, cribbing, and diet?

I like kerilli's ideas they seem to be a bit more measurable. What about the effects of a named supplement or feed on hoof quality (again you can measure lines and photo diary etc) or something involving forage analysis?
