If you bought a horse, travelled it a couple of hundred miles & when it came off the lorry it was in severe distress & collapsed several times, in the process damaging a livery cusomer's car what would you do

Mm tried to post a poll & it didn't work.
The options were:

a ) Call a Vet
b) Put it in a field with another liveries horse & go out for several hours.

I know which I expect to "win" & it's not what happened.
This was a couple of hours after I left my old yard because I was horrified at the way new YO treats her horses

See poll is there now!

Honestly I'd probably do option c, put in quiet stable, give water and talk to him and see how he was in 20 mins, if he'd chilled out and was eating pooing I'd probably leave him to settle some more - if he didn;t look 100% better then back to a) call the vet.

Even if horse came off lorry looking perfect I wouldn't just chuck out with a livery client - what about quarantine???

This - certainly wouldn't just abandon him!

This - I've polled vet as thats by far the best option out the two but I'd be inclined to pop in a stable with water and leave for 10-15 minutes to see if he improved, if no improvement then vet

I absolutely agree with this. I would NEVER chuck a horse out with other liveries(even when they were perfectly well). We had a new arrival was in a terrible state(it was as if someone had hosed and soping..snorting wound up etc). Put in stable and due to greed recovered quickly albeit he wasnt collapsed. That was a horse that hated being stabled as well. I ticked call the vet but agree would do that after above as Polos mum etc has suggested.

Dont know why the question was asked but if someone put a distressed/collapsed horse into a new herd well that is thick or what? Did it live?

Drove past this morning & it is still alive & actually looks quite nice.
So glad I am off that yard even if I am in a temporary home. I bet she wonders why she lost 5 liveries yesterday.
