Depends, some courses have more inviting ditches than others!? I know of a couple of courses that have no ditches, and then some that have small trakehners?! They do vary alot....sorry cant be more specific!!

Our horse never did ditches and we had another horse to event so didn't bother then that horse retired and at 9 years old he had to learn. The first eventing clinic we went on the instructor said he would never get over the problem, then we went on a two day course with Nigel Taylor at Aston le Walls, we have never looked back.Nigel said I don't care if I have to bring you out lunch, dinner, supper and breakfast you are not moving unless he decides to go forward over that ditch.20 minutes later he was over it and did about 40 ditch jumps that day and the same amount the next day.
I picked my courses carefully last year but all the ditches seemed quite shallow [except Solihull]He is now much braver but I don't trust him completely. He has just come 6th in the intro champ and is doing his first novice at Gatcombe next month .Work on it and dig a ditch or two at home and jump them every week
