Diva's sarcoid has returned in her mouth, we were so sure they had removed all of it but there are now two which are bigger than the original.

It is bleeding on contact and looks really sore and nasty.

My vets have drawn a blank as it is not possible to use creams and they are not able to band but they are going to discuss her case with Derek Knottenbelt to see if he can suggest anything else.

I have had a rubbish week having had Lady PTS and now poor Diva's mouth - feeling a bit sorry for myslef so healing vibes for Diva and a kick up the ass for me please

Thanks - I am so gutted finally get her home and what with the abcess and now this can't do anything except lunge in a bitless cavesson!

Much appreciated - It is really nasty, she is fine when she is eating but there is no way I can keep putting a bit in as it just aggrevates it.

Thats horrible about the sarcoid and really hope it can be treated. I have been there with my horse with it bleeding and getting nasty (it was a positive outcome, but couldnt ride her for about a month)... fingers crossed.

Rubbish, sarcoids are horrid. My old mare had one on her side and we had it frozen off; it worked but was nasty while it was dying. I can't imagine how you would deal with one on the mouth. Poor Diva, hugs to her

Have you tried Thuja? This was recommended to me as just need some drops on her tongue each day. Its a herbal remedy but has great success.

Trying to be positive but feeling rubbish and job is not helping! Are you coming for a visit soon?

You can stable with us if you want. Yard is almost finished

Barn stables are finished just some little jobs left to do.

As soon as I mention it's on the inside of the lips everyone draws a blank.

Hopefully Derek will have a cunning plan - I can't believe this might be the end of her ridden career

I'm coming for a visit early December but probs not with ponies- probs just a Jalisco trip!
But I'd love to see the place now- bet it's changed a lot!!

Will definitely give that a go was thinking I might try speaking to Tim Couzins as he was really helpful in the past with another horse.

oh hun im so sorry that would be a terrible shame if she couldnt be ridden anymore xx

not sure who your vets are but we had lingfield out the other day and they were really good on sarcoids and have a guy in america working with them - maybe worth giving them a call xx

You won't believe how much it has changed

Looks super now (apart from muddy gateways!

Just counting the days till the builders leave - as lovely as they are I am sick of clearing up after them!

Really? Which vets did you have out? Am willing to try anything as she is only 7 and it would be such a waste.

Mark said I could always specialise in Western riding then wished he hadn't when I burst into tears

I woild be very interested they come up with anything, my mares sarcoid is slowly working it's way round her lips into her mouth. She has very little feeling on that side of her mouth so steering comes from seat and the fact she loves jumping so you only have to vaguely point her in the right direction. I realise at some point it will end her ridden work. She also has them all round her chin so can't wear a hackamore anymore.

She had a lump which was dormant for almost two years then overnight it sprouted.

We had it removed and now there are two in it's place. She is happy to let you fiddle but I can not ride her as it bleeds. It doesn't seem to cause any obvious discomfort but it looks horrible and I would hate to think that people thought I had split my horses mouth.

I am hoping to speak to the vets again today so will let you know what they suggest.

Try Crossgates Bioenergetics nr Skipton (google them or pm k9h off here, as she works for them). They do a good sarcoid cream that has worked on HH's massive one he had on his thigh. I know the cream will be no use for putting in her mouth but most of the remedies come in a spray form, so it may be that you can get it in that form.

I'm not for a second suggesting this route... but about 15 years ago my mum and dad had a very good p2p'er who suffered with really bad sarcoid's, they were all over his tummy and would bleed quite often when agreviated.. they tried everything to get rid of them, but they'd only come back again...
One day when at a p2p in Cornwall a little old lady wandered up to the lorry (probably trying to sell lucky heather, as they usually do down there) and eyed up what was going on... She said, cross my palm with silver, and they will be gone and never come back....
I promise you, cross my heart, this worked.. they gave her a 20p or something like that, the sarcoids went and never came back agian...

In a way I feel relieved for you... I thought you meant SUSPENSORY!!!

Fingers crossed Prof Knutt n Bolts can can advise you... Grace's look really gruesome at the moment, but one has completely fell off and it is pink skin underneath

DK may consider radioactive implants as the sarcoid is in a place where they cannot use the cream. I'd second trying Thuja before going to DK. I've used it and seen sarcoids disappear. No pain, no mess and not much money either!

One of my horses had radioactive rods put into a nasty sarcoid above the eye. This was done by Knottenbelt at Liverpool. It is the only treatment that has 100% success rate and the sarcoids do not return.
I wonder if Knottenbelt would be able to suggest that for your horse?

The treatment is nasty tho, because because the horse is in complete isolation for two weeks, food is thrown through a hole in the wall and the horse has no human contact for two weeks and complete box rest. But worth it in the end.

Otherwise, definately try the Thuja pills. I was told that they have a very high success rate.
