I have access to a 3/4 acre paddock for the summer for one horse (there are other paddocks with other individual turnout horses around my one). It has electric fencing around the outside of the paddock already so am looking at ideas for splitting it to try and make the grass last. I am thinking of just splitting it in half and grazing in two weeks slots. I know if we have the horrendously dry summer we had last year that I will not have sufficient grass cover throughout, but I will supplement with hay as needed towards the end of summer / autumn. Is there anything else I should be thinking of?

I love a track system where you move the inside fence in in stages to give access to more grass as you need it, it doesn't limit their movement as much as smaller paddocks can and it means when it's wet they aren't stuck in such a small area churning it up and making it take ages to recover

You could make a track and strip graze towards the middle. Start off one side until you get to the centre, then put the fence back and do the same with the other side.
